Description:
With the march "Die Mattig", Salzburg composer Edgar Pelz has created a sonorous monument to one of the most characterful rivers in Salzburg and Upper Austria. Lively, powerful and always in motion, the work musically traces the eventful course of the approximately 50-kilometer-long waterway. Triolic in character and full of forward momentum, the composition reflects the clarity of the water as well as its sometimes impetuous course. Rhythmic energy and striking melody lines make the nature, history and dynamics of the river audible. The arrangement by Franz Watz lends the march additional brilliance and depth. "Die Mattig" is an impressive piece of brass music - tradition-conscious, expressive and an enrichment for any demanding repertoire.
