Description:
The piece comprises five short movements, where each movement differs significantly from the others: a classic opening fanfare, a barcarole based on an Italian folksong, a movement blending the characteristics of humoresque, based on the unremitting use of irregular rhythms, a gently expressive intermezzo. This suite ends with a suggestive Sardinian dance, the ballu tundu, which is structured around a six measures format rather then the more classical eight.
