Description:
In the 15th century AD, the northern region of Portugal was hit by the plague. Legend has it that the population made a sacrifice to St. Bartholomew in the form of a special type of blessed bread, called 'Fogazas', in order to end this terrible curse. This developed into a traditional fiesta, the 'Festa das Fogaceiras', which is celebrated to this day. This story was the source of inspiration for this composition by the Spanish composer Teo Aparicio-Barberán.
