Description:
Viennese Fanfare by Richard Strauss, a shorter version of Festmusik der Stadt Wien, originally composed for ten trumpets, seven trombones, two tubas and timpani, was the basis of Franco Cesarini's arrangement for wind orchestra.
Strauss completed the "Festmusik" on January 14, 1943. He had received the "Beethoven Prize" in 1942 and dedicated the piece to the Vienna City Council as a sign of gratitude. Strauss conducted the world premiere of the work on 9 April 1943 in the Festspielhaus of the Vienna City Hall.
An arrangement that highlights the characteristics of Franco Cesarini's writing.
