Description:
Festsodd, which is a name of a soup consisting of meat, potatoes and carrots eaten on festive occations, is a divertimento for wind band, written for "Strinda ungdomskorps" for their 100 year anniversary in 2024. It consists of four contrasting movements, and the material is derived from the march "Heldensohne" by Arthur Ney. The piece places itself in the tradition of the American wind band repertoire from the 50s to the 70s, but is also inspired of lighter music, reflecting the width of styles of the modern wind band.
The four movements is named after four ingredients in the dish Sodd: 1: Potato (Intrada) – 2: Carrots and leek (Scherzo) – 3: Broth (Ballade) – 4: Meet (Rondo)
