Lars Ericsen came across the iconic trailer music >Flight of the Silverbird< by chance and was fascinated by it from the very beginning. In addition to Johan de Meij’s more technically demanding version, he has created an arrangement for wind orchestra that is equally epic in sound. The focus is on a practical arrangement that preserves the sonic characteristics of this rousing and emotionally charged music.

A particularly audience-friendly performance can be achieved by optionally expanding the wind orchestra with electric guitar, vocals, and a drum corps (sample video).

Good luck! FOREWORD to the "Wind Orchestra" (advanced/upper-level) version by Johan de Meij:

Thomas Bergersen’s >Flight of the Silverbird< is one of the most iconic works in film and trailer music. As part of the 2015 album "Battlecry," it embodies Bergersen’s characteristic style: expansive, uplifting, and full of vibrant atmosphere. In addition to his musical work, Bergersen is known as a co-founder of the production company "Two Steps from Hell" and has earned a reputation as a creator of stirring, emotionally charged music.

Although >Flight of the Silverbird< is not tied to a specific narrative, it evokes images of freedom, grandeur, and transcendence. It invites listeners to imagine a journey—perhaps the spectacular flight of a mythical creature or a metaphorical ascent beyond earthly boundaries. The music unfolds as a gradual, powerful arc that begins with a sense of anticipation and steadily builds toward a radiant, triumphant climax. Thomas Bergersen layers timbres with great precision: gentle strings and piano figures give way to rich harmonies and broad melodic lines, and an extensive percussion ensemble is also incorporated.

Despite its origins, film and trailer music in general has now found a firm place in the concert repertoire, particularly in arrangements for wind orchestra. Johan de Meij has devoted himself with great enthusiasm to >Flight of the Silverbird< and created a truly epic arrangement for wind orchestra.
