It was meant to be a polka in memory of a special person. It has turned out to be an incredibly successful musical tribute. With "Für Gerti," South Tyrolean composer Tobias Psaier impressively bridges the gap between remembrance and preservation. With her positive energy and unwavering optimism, Gerti Kummerow (1954–2023) was someone you simply had to admire. Despite her illness, she remained an impressive personality, full of courage and confidence.
Her wish to be remembered, as well as her admirable character, provided the inspiration for this work. The polka itself musically captures these ideas: following a calm, three-part melody, the lively, life-affirming character of the polka unfolds. In this way, the piece combines heartfelt remembrance with musical joy in a particularly beautiful way!
