Description:
Italian composer Luigi Denza (1846-1922) is best remembered for 'Funiculì, Funiculà' (1880), a humorous Neapolitan song inspired by the inauguration of a funicular at the summit of the 'Vesuvius'.
Besides this, he composed hundreds of popular songs such as 'Luna fedel', 'Occhi di fata', and 'Se' but none of these equaled the popularity of 'Funiculì, Funiculà' which since its release has been transcribed for as well many vocal as instrumental ensembles.
