Summertime from George Gershwin's opera Porgy and Bess, which premiered in 1935, has been covered thousands of times as a jazz standard and is one of the most played and best-known songs in the world. It has become famous through the cover versions by artists such as Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. In this arrangement for tuba solo and wind orchestra, the melody of the original lullaby sounds very sonorous and melancholic & romantic.
