Description:
Leopold Kozeluh (1747-1818) came from Welwarn in Bohemia and received his first lessons from his cousin Antonín. Although he studied law in Prague, he then turned to music and went to Vienna in 1778 after his first successes. Kozeluh left behind an extensive oeuvre. He wrote easily and pleasingly - as the "Gigue" here demonstrates - and, presumably because his music was not very demanding, he was able to hold his own effortlessly alongside the works of Viennese Classicism with a large part of the public.
