Description:
Hagzissa (the title comes from the Old German word for witch) is a concert piece that is dedicated to various aspects of the witch cult in 4 short movements. The movements are titled as follows: "Im Hexenwald": In this introductory section, the main theme, which runs through all the movements, is presented immediately. The atmosphere is dark and mystical. "In the witch's kitchen": This humorous part is based on the clichéd idea of how the witch brews her magic potions at the cauldron. Various exotic ingredients and a number of failed attempts accompany the machinations. "The herb witch": This quiet, lovely part describes the so-called "good witch" who helps people regain their health thanks to her herbalism and healing knowledge. "The broom ride" again plays with a cliché, namely that of the flying witches who meet at midnight to dance wildly. Here you become an observer of such a scene.
