Description:
This piece is all about George Gershwin's lively and enchanting spirit, whose influence can be felt in the harmony and rhythm. However, all the themes, whether slow or fast, were composed by myself and thus offer a personal view of Gershwin's musical world. From the very first note, the piece unfolds a dynamic rich in contrasts, alternating moments of introspective calm with rousing passages typical of the great classics of 20th century American music: The slow theme is reminiscent of a gentle, almost cinematic melancholy, in which the harmonies unfold slowly and create an intimate, dreamy atmosphere. In contrast, the fast, lively and rhythmic theme is reminiscent of jazz and blues influences, putting the listener in an exuberant dance mood. The change of tempo plays with emotional contrasts and offers both moments of lightness and depth. Through this interplay, the piece exploits the rich tonal harmony and rhythmic subtleties that characterize Gershwin's work while maintaining its own identity, characterized by original themes and unexpected developments. While remaining true to the aesthetics of the era, the ensemble sees itself as a personal homage to Gershwin's legacy, an invitation to a musical journey in which each passage reveals a different facet of emotion and creativity.
