Rainhard Fendrich

I'm from Austria (G-Dur)

I am from Austria is often referred to as Austria's unofficial national anthem. When asked about this, Rainhard Fendrich himself said in an interview: "[...] it's not really an anthem, because an anthem is always such an uncritical admiration of the country. And I also sing: 'I know the leaders, I know the rats, the stupidity that screams to the heavens'. And I believe that people sang that succinctly for a while. Of course I'm happy when it's sung in soccer stadiums, I'm less happy when the Identitarians sing it, but at some point I think a song has learned to walk. It's no longer mine. But I think we are now at a time when the song has regained the meaning it originally had. "1
