The 'Irish Dream' ('Irish Dream') begins with a gentle and dreamy melody that outlines the pristine and natural landscape of Ireland. This basic theme is expressed again and again throughout the piece. In contrast, a striking counter-theme is heard, describing the rugged coasts and rough sea winds that frequently sweep across this beautiful island. In order to still create unity in interpretation with this contrast of themes, the counter-theme should not be played too harshly.
