Légende is a noble and expressive work in which Jean-François Michel impressively unfolds his fine sense of melody and sonorous writing. A festive atmosphere is created from the very first bars, from which wide-ranging, vocal themes full of verve and pride develop. Dynamic contrasts and colorful harmonies reinforce the narrative character and create a sequence of musical images. Légende is a tribute to musical tradition, at the same time imbued with modern and rousing energy. The work was composed on the occasion of the 77th Giron des musiques broyardes and underlines the festive and unifying spirit of this event.
