Description:
Inspired by the old name of Lenzburg, Lencis by Franco Cesarini takes us back to the medieval roots of this historic Swiss city, whose castle still towers over the Aare valley today. In three impressive movements - Castles and Fortresses, Where Waters Merge, Rise of the Modern Age - the work combines landscape, history and sonic memory to create a colourful musical panorama. From the monumental power of medieval castles to the poetic confluence of rivers in the "moated castle" to the dynamic energy of modernity, Lencis unfolds as a musical image of change and continuity. Composed by Franco Cesarini on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of musiXmaX - the Mittelaargau Wind Orchestra (Niederlenz, Switzerland) - this work is a tribute to tradition, nature and progress in a powerful orchestral sound language. Lencis: A musical journey through time.
