Description:
The March in E-flat major, WAB 116, was composed on August 12th, 1865, during his time in Linz. The piece was written for the military band of the local rifle regiment as a gesture of appreciation for their participation in performances of the cantatas Preiset den Herrn and Germanenzug. For a long time, Bruckner was also believed to have composed the Apollo March, but as this turned out to be identical to the Mazzuchelli March, the March in E-flat major remains his only confirmed contribution to this genre
