Description:
Maximus Fanfare is a radiant, energetic work for wind band, conceived as a short, percussive overture in which the brass and percussionists are in the foreground from the outset, drawing attention with a veritable explosion of sound. This is followed by a lively orchestral development that leads to a triumphant conclusion.
The inspiration for the fanfare was the majestic golden lion perched at the top of the bell tower on the Place des Héros in Arras, a city with a rich architectural heritage declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The lion is a symbol of strength and greatness and is reflected through music in this glamorous and spirited work.
The piece was commissioned by the Orchestre d'Harmonie d'Arras. It owes its title to Maxime Lavoine, who has led the orchestra since 2011, and is a tribute to his commitment and passion for wind music.
Thierry Deleruyelle has created an intense and radiant work with Maximus Fanfare, a musical tribute to the great heritage of Arras and the enthusiasm of the musicians who carry this heritage forward.
