This piece celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Nuova Banda Comunale of San Giorgio di Nogaro with six movements inspired by its districts. Each has a distinct character, showcasing band timbres while staying accessible. From solemn marches to playful dances, it ends joyfully with a quote from "Happy Birthday". After visiting the town, the composer wrote six short movements, each representing one of the districts/hamlets that make up this Friulian municipality:
  • 1. Nogaro: this first movement opens with a march that introduces the work as a sort of festive, solemn parade
  • 2. Villanova: this district is portrayed through a languid and elegant waltz, with the thematic material mainly entrusted to the woodwinds
  • 3. Zuccola: with its dark medieval echoes, this movement takes a step back in time through rhythmic textures from the lower instruments and percussion, with overlapping themes creating a mysterious atmosphere
  • 4. Galli: a playful and spirited dance, characterized by changing meters, irregular rhythms, and a distribution of themes among various instrumental sections
  • 5. Chiarisacco: an expressive and melancholic andante, in the distinctive style of the Sardinian composer
  • 6. Zellina: the composition ends light-heartedly and joyfully with an "Allegro grazioso", which fittingly includes a quote from "Happy Birthday".
