Description:
The island of Lanzarote is the most northeastern of the Spanish Canary Islands. Characteristic for the island are the black volcanic mountains. Due to the location close to Africa and the Sahara desert, there is a special dryness. The volcanism makes itself felt by high ground temperatures in the 'fire mountains'. The last big volcanic eruption took place in 1824. Today Lanzarote is mainly known as a vacation island. The bizarre volcanic landscape inspired Markus Götz during a stay on Lanzarote to his new composition 'Montanas del Fuego'. Rich in contrast in melody, rhythm and the timbres, he draws a musical picture of this fascinating landscape with its impressive 'mountains of fire'.
