Description:
Between architecture and music, this work is a sonorous and symbolic representation of Bayeux Cathedral (F): its history, its scars and everything that makes up its richness and diversity. It embodies centuries of artistic creativity as well as religious, political and military thought from the times it has lived through. The music allows the different stylistic layers of the building to be heard - from the medieval Romanesque crypt to the contemporary stained glass windows.
Like a sonic diaporama, it evokes vivid images of life around the cathedral: a passing procession, the transportation of building materials and a scene from everyday medieval life. There is also a Regina cæli from the Gregorian repertoire, a Renaissance melody in modern rhythms and more mystical moments in which the gentle ringing of bells - and even the voices of angels - can be heard.
