Description:
O Vitinho is not only one of the most beautiful marches from Portugal, with it rather a new type of march is brought to Central Europe, as it was unknown here until now. Full of melodies and without any aggressiveness, it stands for the lively cheerfulness of Portugal. The composer Francisco Marques Neto has emerged in his homeland with a series of works for wind instruments. His rhapsodies and marches are still part of the repertoire of many wind orchestras in Portugal. And his feel for the timbres of a wind band is no coincidence, for after studying music in Porto, he was the esteemed clarinet virtuoso in that city's Banda da Guarda Nacional Republicana. As conductor of various wind orchestras in the north of Portugal, he helped shape the wind music life of this region.
