Description:
The idea for this lively concert march came to Ernst Hoffmann quite spontaneously. He wanted to write a special, modern march as an opening piece in view of the abundance of marches, hence the title 'Opening'. The trombone theme at the beginning of the march presents a solemn, fanfare-like announcement that appears several times. The theme is later taken over by the trumpets and is finally heard throughout the orchestra. The second part of the march is rather lighter and characterized by more filigree sounds. In the trio, a beautiful sustained melody is heard, which is intended to provide a soft contrast to the energetic fanfares of the beginning, before the march finally ends in a solemn grandioso. 'Opening' by Ernst Hoffmann is an energetic opening piece full of anticipation for a beautiful concert.
