Description:
Léon Jessel was a German composer of operettas and light classical music pieces. Today Jessel is best known internationally as the composer of 'The Parade of the Tin Soldiers' (Die Parade der Zinnsoldaten), also known as 'The Parade of the Wooden Soldiers'. It's an instrumental musical character piece, in the form of a popular jaunty march. The 'Parade of the Tin Soldiers' was originally composed for solo piano but in 1905 Jessel published it for orchestra. American arranger Douglas McLain transcribed the march for a Symphonic Band.
