Purple Pig is a throwback to the delightful Jazz-Pop film scores of the 1970s, written by great and iconic composers such as Henry Mancini, Michel Legrand, Isaac Hayes and others. A common style in this music was "COOL SWING", a new type of Swing music that was much smother and lighter than that of earlier periods like "BIGBAND" and "BE-BOP". And harmonically, it combined the extended Jazz chords from those eras with lighter chords used in Pop songs of the 1960s and 70s, creating a very complex yet listenable sound. In many cases the music created for those films became just as, or even more iconic than the movies they were written for. Band members and audiences alike will enjoy this smooth and easy, yet very COOL offering from American composer James L. Hosay.
