Description:
Rise Up to the Sky evokes a sense of upward movement and grandeur. The composition combines a fanfare-like funk rhythm with subtle Latin American influences, uniting dynamism and modernity.
The piece begins with powerful, alternating fanfare motifs in the high and low brass. A sustained pedal in the bass builds up tension, which is released as soon as the funk rhythm kicks in. The modern groove stands for progress and technological innovation. The ascending melody symbolizes striving upwards, while modern ninth chords create a feeling of floating weightlessly into a new world. After a repetition of the melody, the introductory fanfare motif returns-this time even more radiant and majestic. Delicate figures in the high wood heighten the euphoria and seem like birds flying by. The tension increases further with striking pauses and a change of key. It feels as if the movement is getting faster and faster, as if one is climbing higher and higher. Shortly afterwards, a moment of calm follows: the ascending melody sounds softly in the brass and invites you to pause, as if you were enjoying the view from a great height.
In the final section, the rhythm returns with full energy. Fragments of the opening motif appear in quick succession, while rapid harmonic changes create a feeling of acceleration. It is like flying at high speed over landscapes, cities, rivers and mountains. Finally, a short drop in the low instruments creates a floating feeling - but the renewed bass pedal announces the end. The music culminates in a grand, impressive finale in which the fanfare motifs light up one last time.
