Description:
The oeuvre of the composer Max Reger (1873-1916) is diverse. He wrote works for organ, harmonium, piano, violin, orchestra, solo instruments with orchestra, chamber music and vocal works. The latter include the collection "Zwölf deutsche geistliche Gesänge" (Twelve German Sacred Songs), written and published in 1900. The lullaby "SCHLAF', MEIN KINDELEIN" contained in this collection is a folk song in the style of Johannes Brahms and has a very touching effect, particularly due to its simplicity. The German composer, conductor and arranger Kurt Gäble has taken on this musical pearl, enriched it with preludes and interludes and thus created an artistic and at the same time practical composition for wind orchestra. Gäble has deliberately remained true to the simplicity of Reger's original, thus paving the way for numerous orchestras to achieve a profound musical interpretation. The arrangement can be performed with or without four-part choir (SATB).
