Description:
Cell phones play an important role in Scrollmania. The piece is about the chaos of being online, about endless scrolling and all the stimuli that come with it. This is why QR codes appear at various points in the score. The players scan these with their cell phones and add new sounds to the orchestra. The phone thus becomes a real instrument in the piece. These QR moments show how digital life intrudes everywhere - even when you don't want it to.
The piece can easily be performed without the use of cell phones, and this part is therefore optional. The decision is up to the wind band and/or conductor. It can add an extra dimension to the work. The recording made by the publisher with the Marinierskapelle of the Royal Netherlands Navy was produced without the use of cell phones.
