When composing his work SEE U IN BUDAPEST, Belgian composer Johan Nijs had a very specific story in mind: two good friends are separated from each other for a long time by different paths in life. Every year, however, the two reunite when numerous people from all over the world return to their beloved homeland for a magnificent celebration. SEE U IN BUDAPEST is divided into two large sections: The beginning of the work is majestically sublime and characterized by a melancholy and wistful mood. Before our inner eye we see the vastness of the Puszta, the steppe landscape so typical of Hungary. The second part, on the other hand, is in the style of the Csárdás - a traditional Hungarian folk dance - which builds up to a furious finale with increasingly fast, wild sequences of steps and turns. Even if the trip "home" is only short-lived, next year is sure to come: SEE U IN BUDAPEST!
