With the polka "Seid gegrüßt," the Baden composer Roland Rippmann has created a musical tribute to all lovers of Bohemian-Moravian brass music. The idea for this piece came to him during a walk through the picturesque vineyards of Baden—and it soon developed into a polka with a truly catchy melody. Even the very first measures radiate good cheer and invite listeners to clap along. Typical Bohemian melodies move between the flugelhorns and the tenor horn/baritone register, while the tubas repeatedly add resonant accents. The piece concludes on a high note as the audience joins in with clapping—providing the best of entertainment for musicians and listeners alike. The arrangement is by Michael Kuhn, who has effectively adapted the composition for wind orchestra with a keen sense of the Bohemian brass band style. The result is a work full of good cheer that enriches any entertainment program in a delightful way.
