Description:
This symphonic wind orchestra work is a homage to the painting "Hauptweg und Nebenwege" by the painter and graphic artist Paul Ernst Klee. In the centre of the picture is a rectilinear main path in vivid colours, surrounded by irregular side paths that are nevertheless kept in similar shades. As in the painting, a short motif is repeated in the play in many variations, while the environment of this motif is constantly changing, similar to the byways in the picture. The color gradients and paths of the painting are seen as an allegory of human life. Just as ideas, goals and desires in our lives are constantly changing, our path often leads along different paths. Even if we are striving for a big goal, we usually only reach it via numerous branches and sometimes unexpected detours. The piece carries a deep message of hope with a second theme: it encourages us to hold on to our dreams and pursue them with indomitable will, even when the path is marked by unexpected twists and seemingly insurmountable obstacles. It is an ode to the youth around the world who are still at the beginning of their journey to achieve their dreams. May it give them the strength and determination to continue on their path undeterred, even in the midst of the greatest challenges.
