Description:
Johann Strauss composed his 'Spanischer Marsch' (Spanish March) in 1888 for María Cristina, regent of Spain, daughter of Archduke Karl Ferdinand and Archduchess Elisabeth of Austria. This march represents the best the musical traditions of Spain.
In Vienna, the 'Spanischer Marsch' was first performed by the 'Strauss Orchestra' during the opening concert of the new concert season of 1888/89 in the Musikverein and conducted by Johann Strauss' younger brother Eduard.
