Susanne Zabl, one of the few female composers in the field of symphonic wind music, creates with Steel Thunder a vivid soundscape of urban density. Rhythmic patterns, metallic sounds, and the use of metal barrels evoke the atmosphere of a large construction site - loud, restless, and powerful. Amidst the hammering and rumbling, a moment of stillness appears: a vibraphone solo recalls the nature that once existed before it gave way to progress. But the calm does not last - the machines roar back to life, and the relentless rhythm of change returns.
