Argentine pianist and virtuoso on the bandoneon, Astor Piazzolla, helped the traditional tango to blossom again by using elements of jazz as well as extended harmonies and dissonances. His signature composition Street Tango has been beautifully arranged here for wind band. In doing so, arranger Robert Longfield has drawn on the varied movement structures and tempos, as well as the almost improvisational character of the original.
