Description:
Suite for Baritone & Concert Band was written as a tribute to my first trombone teacher, Svein Thorolf Berg. He performed it with Skeiene Janitsjar, a concert band with a reduced instrumentation. For that reason, some parts are marked as optional.
The first movement is primarily a waltz, but with some characteristic rhythmic elements drawn from the tango. There is also some intentional "confusion" created through time signature changes.
The second movement is simply a peaceful song, with a slightly more intense middle section, before returning to the calm character of the opening.
The third movement is essentially a Hambo — I think? It is probably the most technically demanding of the three.
Solo parts are provided in both bass clef and treble clef.
