Description:
Swiss Mountain Song is based on a popular traditional song from Switzerland's Berner Land. The melody was composed by organist, Ferdinand Fürchtegott Huber (1791 - 1863), whilst the text is taken from a poem by Josef Anton Jenne (1798 - 1870). Gilbert Tinner's arrangement for concert band retains the folk flavour of the original, with the solo part playable by a flugel horn, euphonium or French horn.
