Description:
Tetraktys, named after a mathematical concept by Pythagoras, is a festive and varied work composed to mark the tenth anniversary of the Ghent University Wind Band. A mysterious introduction paves the way for a rousing allegro in which all sections of the orchestra are used. The slow middle section offers a moment of calm and is introduced by a lyrical theme presented by the clarinets. After a brief return to the fast movement, the mood changes to a swinging passage in big band style, which leads directly into the finale.
