Description:
Gustav Holst's "Jupiter" from the suite The Planets is one of the best-known and most radiant works of orchestral music. Guido Rennert's arrangement for large symphonic wind orchestra retains the festive, energetic character of the original: powerful fanfares, dance-like rhythms and broad, majestic soundscapes characterize the work. Particularly famous is the hymn-like secondary theme in the middle of the piece, which radiates a solemn, sublime calm and gives "Jupiter" its unmistakable character. Rennert's transcription makes impressive use of the tonal possibilities of the symphonic wind orchestra and combines virtuosity, brilliance and orchestral color to create a rousing concert experience.
