Description:
George Gershwin did not write much film music but what would have happened if he hadn't died at a young age? One of the exceptions to this is the music for the 1937 film 'Shall We Dance'. From this movie with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers became especially the number 'Walkin' the Dog' very popular: The two protagonists are seen not dancing, but walking posh pooches on a luxury ocean liner before ending up walking with each other.
'Walkin' the Dog' became later also known under the title 'Promenade' and was used in the Ballet 'The Real McCoy'. 'Walkin' the Dog' is now transcribed for Symphonic Band by Dutch arranger Jos van de Braak.
