Description:
A polka that, in its first section, depicts the inner conflict one experiences when acting against the voice of one’s heart. In the second section, small successes emerge that help one accept the new situation. However, they quickly lead back to the first section and thus to renewed turmoil. When the trio finally enters and the tenors begin the melody, it becomes clear where the journey is headed: "home"! Everyone can decide for themselves what that means and interpret it freely from the heart, which drives the crescendo to the end of the piece. "My heart belongs to brass music."
Markus Mayr, born in 1994, is the principal trumpeter of the Essen Philharmonic Orchestra and has thus turned his passion—music—into a career. The fact that he hasn’t forgotten his roots is evident in the way he continues to actively participate in brass band music—both in his hometown band and with Juvavum8—despite the great distance. This is likely why he has dedicated his first composition to his "home."
