This composition consists of 2 arrangements: the first one, Lament, is intended for 4 timpani which are joined by 3 tomtoms, 5 wood blocks, 1 hi-hat and tamtam in the second one called Recitative. This piece combines reliable composition technique with a lot of creativity, rhythmic variety and richness of tone. Apart from a perfect feeling for rhythm and a high level of playing technique, this work also requires a high degree of musical intuition from the player. Therefore, this piece is intended for the rather advanced and experienced musician. Steve Fitch (* 1957) is a percussionist and plays the second solo timpani with The Phoenix Symphony' in Arizona/USA.
