Description:
Momentum, commissioned by the National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors, is an advanced percussion octet, with each musician on one instrument for the entirety of the piece. The work explores changing meters and regularly passes around thematic material from instrument to instrument. Instrumentation includes: xylophone, orchestra bells, chimes, vibraphone, marimba, graduated drums, triangle, timpani, three woodblocks, 5 graduated pieces of iron pipes, 2 anvils, string drum, and 7 assorted graduated membranophones and lignaphones.
