Quintet for Winds was composed in 1978 for the Aulos Quintet, on commission from the Naumburg Foundation. The piece especially emphasizes mixtures and doublings. Duration c. 23 minutes.

Trios from the master's heyday, bursting with playfulness and melodiousness. In this instrumentation, the works represent indispensable repertoire material.

Our edition of this popular showpiece, which has also become known in instrumentations with winds and strings, includes a part for B-flat clarinet in addition to the original C clarinet part.

The duets reveal Gebauer's familiarity with the development of wind instruments. In these 'equal' melodic pieces he skillfully unites the German taste with the French taste influenced by Gossec.
