Description:
American Patrol is a popular march composed by Frank Meacham in 1885. The first and original version was for piano after which it was eventually published for band in 1891. It contains original themes by Meacham as well as melodies from American patriotic songs of the time, such as "Columbia, the Gem of the Ocean," "Dixie" and "Yankee Doodle." Glenn Miller made a swing version of it in 1942. Ivo Kouwenhoven made a shortened and playable version of it for young band/flexible ensembles.
