There are melodies that stay with you for decades. They return at the moments they choose, sometimes quite unexpectedly, and develop an almost mysterious naturalness. They become part of your own inner playlist - quietly but always present - ready to reappear when a memory or a feeling arises. This is the case with the melody "Repton" by Sir Charles Hubert Hastings Parry (1848-1918), which I probably heard for the first time in my childhood. It came back to me at just the right moment, like an echo from the past, when I was looking for inspiration to compose this work for you. I felt the desire to give it a new setting, to revisit it with respect and sensitivity, to share its luminous beauty and touching simplicity with you. At the same time, it is a tribute to that British skill that has given us so many unforgettable melodies. A musical tradition of rare nobility that I deeply admire and that continues to inspire my own work.
