Frosty the Snowman is a Christmas song written by Walter "Jack" Rollins and Steve Nelson. It was first recorded by Gene Autry and the Cass County Boys in 1950, and later by Jimmy Durante the same year. The song was written following the success of Gene Autry's recording of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" the year before.

The lyrics tell the story of a group of children who find a hat and place it on Frosty's head. Frosty laughs and plays with the children until the hot sun threatens to melt him. Frosty says goodbye to the children and assures them that he will come back someday.

"Frosty the Snowman" has been recorded by many different artists and is generally regarded as a Christmas song, even though Christmas itself is never mentioned in the lyrics. This arrangement is based on Ella Fitzgerald's recording from 1960.
