The song has become synonymous with carnival cheer, from a time when there were still only three TV channels and millions of viewers watched the show "Mainz bleibt Mainz – wie es singt und lacht." However, the original version of this piece is technically quite demanding, as evidenced by the fact that even Ernst Mosch’s orchestra performed it brilliantly.
