Description:
Si Patokaan is a well-known Indonesian folk song from North Sulawesi, more precisely from the Minahasa region. The song tells of the loving relationship between a mother and her grown-up son, who leaves home to look for work elsewhere. It thus reflects a deeply rooted migration tradition in this region, in which farewell, hope and solidarity play an important role.
