Description:
Nat King Cole was an American singer and jazz pianist. He recorded over 100 songs that became hits, and this is one of his latest, recorded in 1963 and still a summer hit on the radio.
This is a 'Flex 5' arrangement in the popular series ShowBlow and has both melodic and rhythmic challenges in each of the instrumental parts.
Like the original song, it opens with 3 fermatas. After the 3rd fermata it's important to make a fresh start in the correct tempo, to achieve the catchy, light-hearted style without playing too fast. Make sure that everyone plays with a 2-feel / 'half-time' swing.
On sections A, A9, C, C9, E and E9, the Drum Part should be played 'ad lib' with sticks on rim of the snare drum, to create a 'tap dance' style as background for the melody line.
A perfect choice for the upcoming outdoor concerts!
