Description:
Born in Havana in 1965 guitar virtuoso Joaquín Clerch achieved numerous prizes and he inspired among others Leo Brouwer for his Concierto Habana. His own compositions are expressive and touch the soul. Since 1999 Clerch is guitar professor at the Robert Schumann Academy in Dusseldorf. 'GUITARRESCA Gredos San Diego' was born out of the composers' friendship with Ruben Cruz, founding president of the GSD, which organizes the International Youth Guitar Contest in Madrid. It is the compulsory work for the semi-final of the 2014 Contest. Clerch composed the first study of his 'Estudios' for his pupil Kontaxakis Michalis for a CD-recording for the Naxos label, which was part of the prize of the Tárrega competition. Since then, Clerch writes for each of his students, who wins the competition, an own study.
